Happy Anniversary!

Unbelievable!  Fay and Kay have been adding new life improvements for one whole year!  In that year, Fay has lost 32 pounds and Kay has lost 15 pounds!  Way to go girls!

Fay and Kay have decided that 52 new life improvement is all they can handle, but they aren't done changing their lives.  Since both girls did not reach their weight loss goal, they will continue to weigh in each week and focus on sticking with the life changes, which have made such a difference.  Fay and Kay really enjoy their daily exercises now and even do them with the kids sometimes so they know they are being good role models for the kids to learn healthy habits from.  The girls will also pay attention to what distractions they have that are holding them back from meeting their goals and work on getting those under control.

Thank you for following and encouraging Fay and Kay on the path to change their lives for the better.  Please keep up the comments and the encouraging words to help the girls reach their goals!

The groundhog said Spring is coming.

Fay and Kay enjoyed looking through their closet this last week for some piece of motivation to hang right in front.  Kay found a cute top that doesn't quite button and Fay found some low rise jeans she has had since pre-three-babies-in-16-months.  The girls are anxious to see if their hard work will pay off and get them into these cute clothes soon!

This week Fay and Kay want to add a little more toning work.  Both girls have access to a pull up bar either in the basement (in NY) or at the neighborhood park (in TX).  The girls are going to add a pull up or two whenever they have a chance.  Though they have found themselves unable to do very many... or any... pull ups right now, they hope to get better with each effort... just like they did with their push-ups and other daily exercises.  Hopefully they can fit it in a couple times a week to add a little more arm definition for the summer.  It is coming up to sleeveless shirt time!!

Look at Me!

Fay and Kay had a hard time keeping their hands off the kiddos' plates, but they did it... and it paid off!  Kay lost a pound and Fay did not gain or lose!  Good week!

This week Fay and Kay are going to choose one item in their closets that they can't quite get into or that doesn't fit the way they wish it did.  Then the girls will hang that item right in the front so that they see it every single day.  The girls are hoping that seeing their motivation hanging right in front of their closets will remind them to stick with the life improvements... even the hard ones.  And as an added bonus, Fay and Kay can see how far they have come when they look through their closets and realize that some items that didn't fit last year fit them now!  How is that for motivation!?

I'll have the Child's Plate

Setting a routine must have been an encouragement for Fay and Kay... or at least forced them to realize they weren't following the life improvements as well as they should.  Now the girls have a routine and they both lost a pound this week.  Fay cut a deal with her husband that allows her to workout in the morning on weekends while he handles the kids and, more challenging, the puppies.  Then Fay handles the responsibilities while her husband works out in the afternoons.  Kay set up a routine that will work for her 5 days a week... working out during naptime instead of filling up that time with dishes and laundry (or chatting on the phone with Fay).

This week the girls have decided to stop eating off their children's plates.  Fay and Kay both admit to adding a few extra calories at every meal by finishing off the yummy stuff the kids left behind.  But those extra calories really add up and the girls certainly don't need any extra calories... or germs either... who knows where those kids have been!?!  And Fay and Kay will not feel bad about the waste either.  The food is biodegradable and will not clog the landfills as badly as it would have clogged their arteries, so Fay and Kay will throw it out happily!

When/ Where/ How

This week Fay did pretty good... she didn't gain or lose.  Kay, on the other hand, didn't have such a good week.  She gained a few pounds and struggled to keep up with the life improvements.  Therefore, this week's life improvement is dedicated to Kay and all the other working moms who are trying to make positive life changes fit into their busy lives!

This week, Fay and Kay are going to figure out their workout routines.  Most days Fay fits her workout in right after the kids get on the bus.  She can run outside when the weather in NY in warm, otherwise the new TV in the basement will have to serve as incentive to get on the treadmill.  However, she is going to barter a plan with her husband to enable them both to fit in workouts on the weekend.  Kay does not currently have a routine, so she will be figuring out the best plan that will work with her schedule of dropping one kiddo at school, another at the babysitters, going to work, picking everybody up, helping with homework, making dinner, cleaning up, putting everybody to bed and maybe even taking a shower.  Hopefully a routine will allow Kay to get her 30 minutes of activity in every day.

Yum! Yum!

It wasn't a great week for Fay, but Kay lost a pound! Way to go Kay!  And Fay and Kay's kiddos also had a fun time doing jumping jacks and push ups (which Fay's boys can do as well as Fay!)  The girls are hoping their children's enjoyment of exercising together will foster good health for a lifetime!

This week Fay and Kay are going to revise a recipe to make it a little healthier.  For instance, they might use ground turkey instead of ground beef on taco night.  Or use brown rice instead of white.  Anything that will make a family favorite just a little healthier.  The girls are open to recipe suggestions so feel free to leave a comment with your favorite healthy recipe!

Share the Wealth

This week Fay lost one pound and Kay gained one pound.  The fasting that the girls did was really difficult.  Both girls found it challenging to be so hungry.  However, both girls feel that they did a good job with the challenge and Fay and Kay both feel good about their thoughts and prayers for those who go hungry more often.

This week the girls want to incorporate their families into their daily exercise routine.  Fay and Kay will encourage their children to lead healthier lifestyles by doing the daily exercises with them a few times a week.  Fay and Kay can't wait to see the positive changes that they have seen in themselves, reflected in their children.
