Yum! Yum!

It wasn't a great week for Fay, but Kay lost a pound! Way to go Kay!  And Fay and Kay's kiddos also had a fun time doing jumping jacks and push ups (which Fay's boys can do as well as Fay!)  The girls are hoping their children's enjoyment of exercising together will foster good health for a lifetime!

This week Fay and Kay are going to revise a recipe to make it a little healthier.  For instance, they might use ground turkey instead of ground beef on taco night.  Or use brown rice instead of white.  Anything that will make a family favorite just a little healthier.  The girls are open to recipe suggestions so feel free to leave a comment with your favorite healthy recipe!

Share the Wealth

This week Fay lost one pound and Kay gained one pound.  The fasting that the girls did was really difficult.  Both girls found it challenging to be so hungry.  However, both girls feel that they did a good job with the challenge and Fay and Kay both feel good about their thoughts and prayers for those who go hungry more often.

This week the girls want to incorporate their families into their daily exercise routine.  Fay and Kay will encourage their children to lead healthier lifestyles by doing the daily exercises with them a few times a week.  Fay and Kay can't wait to see the positive changes that they have seen in themselves, reflected in their children.

Blessed

It was a good week for Fay and Kay.  Fay lost one pound and Kay lost an astounding three pounds!!  Although Fay can credit the puppy fun she was having last week, Kay credits her weight loss to a realization that she had during the week.

You see, Kay heard from a friend last week who had moved away.  During the conversation, Kay discovered that this friend moved away from an abusive situation and is trying to start over with nothing.  No heat, no electricity, little food.  Kay decided that she would bring a few things to her friend this weekend, but, in preparation, she also decided that it wasn't fair that she had so much to eat when this girl had so little.  So Kay ate tiny meals this week and every time she felt hungry, she thought of her friend who is surviving on soup and oatmeal while trying to build a new life.

Although a fast like Kay's would not be healthy over the long term, Fay and Kay decided that it would be healthy for their souls to incorporate this fasting lifestyle into their daily lives.  The girls will be eating very reduced meals a couple times a week and when hunger strikes, they will use that as a reminder to think of others who are not so blessed as to have an abundance of food in their pantry.

Puppy Fun

Fay and Kay did not start off the year very well.  Both girls gained 2 pounds this week.  Yikes!  But the girls are enacting their New Years' Resolutions and hope to do better in the coming weeks leading up to this blog's one year anniversary!

This week Fay and Kay will start running with their dogs.  Fay has two tiny Schnoodle puppies that her kids got for Christmas.  Kay has a beautiful Dalmation that she picked out long ago.  Despite one dog's old age and two others' tiny, tiny legs, Fay and Kay are pretty sure the dogs can still outrun them!  The girls are going to do their best to keep up and spend a few minutes each day playing outside with their dogs running and enjoying the fun!
